NiTEC Make Shortlist for Excellence in Manufacturing Award at Sheffield Business Awards

It’s been a busy month here at NiTEC! So we were pleased to have the chance to let our hair down at The Sheffield Business Awards last week, where we were nominated for the The Wake Smith Excellence in Manufacturing Award.

Although NiTEC didn’t win, we were very pleased to have been nominated and the ceremony itself was a great event. It was held at Ponds Forge International Sports Centre in Sheffield and there were over a thousand attendees from several local businesses, including the local press.

We were greeted with a champagne reception and the food and entertainment made it a really good night out. The awards themselves were announced by former Blue Peter presenter and Strictly Come Dancing star Gethin Jones, and once the award ceremony was over, we were kept up dancing into the early hours by a fantastic covers band.

Innovative Approach to Manufacturing

Commercial Director Marcus Hill said, “We were delighted to have been nominated for such a prestigious award. NiTEC have had a very successful year and achieved a lot. It’s great to be recognised for our innovative approach to manufacturing.”

According to the criteria set out by the judging panel, to be nominated for The Wake Smith Excellence in Manufacturing Award, a company has to be able to demonstrate the following:

  • A modern, efficient and innovative approach to manufacturing.
  • Exhibits best practice to build a sustainable operation either by the development of new manufacturing techniques, new products or capital investments.
  • A track record for training and passing on skills to future generations and the desire to promote the region as a centre for manufacturing excellence.
